@desilounge.yvr continues to shape their Downtown Vancouver menu around regional Indian cuisine with a contemporary approach. The offerings reflect a mix of familiar dishes and newer interpretations, with West Coast ingredients worked into traditional techniques.
*What I tried*
Appetizers
- Mango Burrata, creamy with a touch of sweetness. Burrata with spiced mango chutney and toast.
- Gunpowder Cassava Kebab, crisp with a noticeable kick. Cassava fritters with gunpowder spice and chutney.
- Karwari Shrimp, warm and aromatic. Goan spice grilled prawns.
Curries
- Bhareli Vangi, rich and aromatic. Coconut and cashew stuffed baby eggplant curry.
- Auckland Lamb Lolly, tender with a subtle fennel note. Grilled lamb chop with fennel sauce and spinach.
Indian Rice and Breads
- Khumb Miloni Pulao, earthy and comforting. BC mushrooms with herbs and spices.
- Lamb Keema Stuffed Naan, warm and satisfying. Naan filled with spiced lamb keema.
- Laccha Paratha, flaky and easy to pull apart. Whole wheat unleavened flatbread.
Desserts
- Moti Chur Cheesecake, creamy with added texture. Cheesecake with moti chur crumble, tuile, and pista yogurt sauce.
- Malai Ghawar, lightly crisp with gentle sweetness. Honeycomb pastry with pista, berries, and cardamom cream.
Drinks
- Virgin Strawberry Mojito, refreshing with a fruit note. Strawberry, mint, and citrus.
- Mango Lassi, smooth and familiar. Yogurt blended with mango.
