My quiet journey through heart surgery and papillary thyroid cancer:⛵️ Some of you know this has been a challenging 12 months. Some are just finding out. I just kind of wanted to get through all of this before talking too much about it. However, I am always always always here to answer questions for anyone who might be going through any of these issues. ❤️ May and June 2025: “I feel like I’m dying”
July 2025:
“You are in heart failure. You need another new aortic valve (5th time). We are going to try something totally new and film it in October”
August and September: 🫠🫠🫠
October 2025:
New aortic valve put in at Cedars Sinai 🙌
December 24th, 2025:
“You have a suspicious nodule. You need a needle biopsy” Btw - Ouch! Reality: 16 needles in my neck.
January 2026:
“You have papillary thyroid cancer. Probably from decades of exposure to x-rays and CT scans from your heart problem 👀 . You need surgery. We need to wait to do it until 6 months from your valve surgery date because of blood thinner issues”. Perfect. (Not really)
February and March: 🫠🫠🫠
April 2026:
Thyroid Lobectomy surgery of the right side at Hoag Hospital. New scar across the front of my neck but “Cancer is gone!” This surgery is likely a cure 🙌
What a year it’s been. It hasn’t been easy. Gabe has been a rockstar through it all 😎
