Meet Chelbi Robinson — a proud Jacksonville native with an unshakable love for her city.
Chelbi’s connection to downtown Jax runs deep, rooted in childhood memories of free concerts at The Landing and monthly ArtWalks with her father. Raised on the Northside alongside her mother, she developed a strong sense of community early on—witnessing firsthand how neighbors showed up for one another in times of need. It’s no surprise that Chelbi has continued to show up, evolving from a participant to a dedicated supporter and community builder.
After graduating from our Placemaking School (pictured)—where she stood out in a class of over 100 students—we’re thrilled to welcome her as our first Research Fellow.
So what does that mean?
You might see Chelbi at the pop-ups assisting project teams, interviewing Jacksonville placemakers to capture their stories, or conducting focused research at the DVI office on the people-centered side of urban planning.
The bigger mission for her in this role is clear: to uncover the real barriers residents face in participating in city-building and downtown revitalization, and to help PMJax design programs that truly improve the quality of life in city center for all Jacksonville residents.
This is only made possible because of support from the @cfjacksonville
honestly as i’ve spent my last days in school with the friends i have just because of club downunder, i can only think of how grateful i am to have been a part this organization for a whole 4 years of my life. working for a damn concert venue in college, handling thousands of dollars, somehow leading teams of people wtf who let me do this⁉️⁉️
thank you cdu: for letting me freely explore my creativity, for allowing me to make mistakes, for helping me build confidence in my abilities, for letting me speak my mind, for introducing me to amazing people, for giving me huge opportunities in the past and in the future(stay tuned for that one), for setting high standards for my future career, and just giving me an overall wildly lucky experience.
this shit was so hard at times but i’ve learned so much. thank you to the pr department for giving me grace, and for helping create the honest, open, fully collaborative space i always wanted.
