The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned the Chief Administrator of GMADA in connection with the ongoing ₹150 crore money-laundering investigation linked to alleged irregularities in Change of Land Use (CLU) approvals for the Suntec City and Altus Space Builders projects in Mohali.
The probe has intensified after the ED recently conducted raids across Mohali, Chandigarh, New Chandigarh and Patiala, recovering around ₹1 crore cash along with several important documents. Investigators are now examining the role of GMADA officials and housing authorities in granting allegedly fraudulent approvals to the projects.
According to reports, the ED has sought records related to approvals, financial transactions and officials involved in the projects. The investigation is based on FIRs alleging forged landowner consent letters, illegal collection of crores from buyers and misleading homebuyers through conditional approvals.
The development has created major buzz in Punjab’s real estate sector as the investigation now directly focuses on top officials connected to project clearances and land approvals.

Travelling between Delhi and Chandigarh could soon become much faster, with the journey expected to reduce from the current 5-6 hours to nearly just 2 hours once the upcoming expressway network becomes fully operational. 🛣️
The major transformation will be driven by the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway, a mega infrastructure project worth nearly ₹38,905 crore. Designed for high-speed travel of up to 120 kmph, the corridor will improve connectivity across Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir.
For Chandigarh-bound travellers, the route will connect through the Dwarka Expressway, Urban Extension Road, KMP Expressway and Trans-Haryana Expressway before reaching Ambala and Chandigarh. Most sections of the project are expected to open between late 2026 and March 2027.
Apart from reducing travel time, authorities believe the expressway network will boost tourism, logistics, business activity and real estate growth across North India. Delhi to Amritsar may reduce to around 4 hours, while Delhi to Katra could drop from nearly 14 hours to around 6 hours.

Residents, persons with disabilities, families and students gathered at Sector 17 Plaza in Chandigarh to hold a candlelight protest against the UT Administration’s decision to convert nearly half of the Group Home building in Sector 31 into a paid senior citizens’ home.
Protesters alleged that the decision was taken without proper discussion with the UTTHAAN Society for Group Home and raised concerns over the rights and rehabilitation of persons with mental disabilities. Many families and activists termed the move unfair, insensitive and against the spirit of inclusive community living.
The demonstrators demanded that the administration protect the original purpose of the Group Home and ensure equal access for economically weaker section (EWS) applicants without discrimination. Several mental health professionals and social activists also urged authorities to reconsider the decision and hold transparent discussions with affected families.
The protest concluded with calls for immediate intervention by the UT Administration to safeguard the rights of persons with disabilities in Chandigarh.
