Let’s be honest - great Indian comics don’t just get discovered on merit alone anymore. Visibility takes work. It takes intent. It takes publishers proactively showing up for comic conventions, and pushing hard to get books into the hands of readers, reviewers, and award platforms that matter. Beyond paying creators on time, promoting and recognising their work on bigger stages is one of the few ways to appreciate the blood, sweat, and sleepless nights that go into making these books. That’s why the Indian Comic Book Awards 2026 by @tcbtindia meant so much to us. We’re incredibly grateful, and honestly still a bit stunned, that Black Sheep's first book with @yalidreamcreations , Technicolour Lovers: Reel 1, swept the awards, winning Best Writer, Best Artist, Best Letterer, and Best Comic. The third story included in “While We Burn” is “PRAY”. People are trapped inside the church and are about to be swarmed by a horde of monsters. If you love dramatic and surrealistic experiences, with parallel narration and unique hand-drawn and colored visuals, this is the story for you! Writer: Denis Berashevich Art & Colors: Utsab Chatterjee @utsabchatterjee_studio Letters: Jackie Marzan @daifukumochi82 Concept Art/Storyboards: Michael Kupitsky @mikle_corp_art For the third story, I needed a unique visual style to depict the events of “Pray”. And Utsab was a perfect choice for that one. Talented, precise, and creative, Utsab showed his mastery of traditional work and made this story entirely by hand. Pencils, inks, and paints — every page of that story is drawn and colored traditionally. And all of that required a very clear understanding of what we were trying to achieve, convey, and tell our readers. It was a tremendous amount of effort, but I think the third story, which I wanted to stand out with style, turned out great, and soon you’ll be able to see it for yourselves And just like with the previous story, Michael Kupitsky helped us speed up the whole process by drawing his awesome concepts and storyboards. Thank you! In my opinion, this story was the hardest when it came to lettering. Because there is quite a lot of text and the story itself has fewer pages than Tavish or KoTN, it was harder to fit everything that I wanted initially and at the same time not cut something that might be important for the reader. Jackie managed to do that, and it was a miracle to witness! Kind of the same thing that needs to happen for those desperate people trapped in that church. But to find out if that even happens, you’ll have to read the story for yourself!
