New Article Alert! 📣 Managing Disruptions by Homeless Individuals at Your Hospitality Establishment by Ryan Dowd. “If you read this, I promise you that you will know more about homelessness than a majority of the population!” – Ryan Dowd Managing disruptions involving homeless individuals takes more than a script and a “be compassionate” reminder. With homelessness up over 18% since COVID, hospitality teams need practical, memorable training that keeps everyone safer. The real focus should be prevention: teaching specific non-verbal behaviors, avoiding confrontational body language, and keeping responses simple enough to recall under stress. Safety training works best when it is behavioral, practiced, and human - helping staff enforce rules respectfully while reducing incidents and building confidence. A very practical article for hospitality trainers! 🔗 Visit the link in our bio > Training Articles #CHARTtrainers @homelesstraining

Attendees of Matthew Rowe's breakout at the Boston Hospitality Training Conference will gain a new, performance-based perspective by taking a "Systems" approach to operations and learning how to embed it into training and development. Often, training and operations teams work towards the same goals and vision, but do not cohesively connect, which can create confusion and inconsistency that negatively affect results. In this session, you’ll explore how to effectively drive a company vision, utilize Systems/Processes and Tools, and connect the training and coaching environment to the Systems that drive success. By understanding that every action ties into a System, you’ll learn how to achieve breakthrough results faster and lead a high-performance L&D culture. New article drop! Hospitality trainers are very good at telling people what to do. We are great at building programs and materials. But Audrey Benet says that making someone truly capable – able to think, adapt, and respond in real time when the script breaks – that’s a different level. Read her fresh take in this new article, “Our Job Isn’t to Train People, It’s to Make Them Capable,” to discover where learning begins to drive real business impact. Audrey says that with AI reshaping L&D, the bigger opportunity isn’t replacing thinking, but using technology to strengthen the human capability at the heart of hospitality. A new article has dropped! Patrick Yearout @patrickyearout of Ivar's Restaurants describes how to deliver the delicate balance of predictability and flexibility in this new article, “The 2026 Standard for Employee Scheduling: Flexible, Predictable, and Actually Workable.” Patrick says that flexible scheduling may be the most overused promise in hospitality hiring - yet one of the most important to actually deliver. Team members want control over their time, but they also need schedules they can plan their lives around. That means flexibility without chaos, predictability without rigidity, and systems that work beyond the recruiting ad. For hospitality organizations and leaders, the opportunity is clear: listen to employees, set fair standards, use better tools, test the real experience, and track the results so scheduling becomes a retention driver employees can truly trust. 🔗 Visit the link in our bio > Training Articles and give it a read! #CHARTtrainers

While the introduction of CHART's new Learning Management System (LMS), "The Lobby," is biggie news, Curt Archambault @curt.archambault believes that the individual skills and clean handoffs of the project team is a story all its own. Visit the link in our bio to read more about the lessons learned from this stellar relay team. ✨ "The CHART LMS Team, The Lobby, and the Power of a Clean Handoff" @therestauranttrainer Audrey Benet ran the technical leg and often ran it more than once. As our LMS platform wizard, she translated vision into functionality and complexity into capability. When the question was “Can the platform do this?” Audrey made sure the answer was not just yes but done right. @susan.loves.tacos Susan Diepen ran the meaning-making leg, repeatedly and intentionally. She ensured membership, competencies, and learning pathways were not just present, but coherent. Susan made sure the LMS reflected how CHART members grow and develop, not how a system assumes they should. @lisa_marovec Lisa Marovec ran the brand translation leg, then circled back repeatedly. She took evolving ideas and made them clear, engaging, and accessible. Her work ensured The Lobby did not just function, but invited members in and made them want to stay. @tara.davey Tara Davey ran the grounding and reality-check leg throughout the race. She kept the work connected to CHART’s purpose, members, partners, sponsors, and Board. Tara made sure decisions passed the test of relevance and impact, not just creativity or convenience. Curt Archambault was the baton steward. Watching the exchange zones. Knowing who needed it next. Clearing obstacles. Protecting momentum. Making sure no one had to sprint someone else’s race. Thanks to the team! 🙌 #CHARTtrainers
