Joy & Gratitude 🤍
Thrilled to be a part of the Universal family and deeply thankful to the outstanding team at UTV, my spectacular reps, and to everyone who’s been a part of this path - cheering, challenging, believing, and supporting my unwavering belief in the power of storytelling.
Magic is brewing! ✨🤍
Such a special time. 🥂 The parties, the friends, the red carpets. It’s a joy to know the shows have touched such a wide audience.
What isn’t captured on social media are the hours, weeks, months and years of work. The sleepless nights, missed holidays, bouts of self doubt, heartbreaks, setbacks, lackluster first drafts and that blank page all writers dread.
None of this comes easily to anyone, regardless of what social media sometimes tricks us into feeling. It’s a joy to be recognized for doing what we love, but the shine shouldn’t overshadow the substance.
So this is a gentle reminder to keep going. Wherever you are in your journey, keep going. And know we’re here cheering you on. 🫶🏽🙏🏽♥️

It was an honor co-hosting the @theiwmf ’s Courage in Journalism Awards with @willowbay and @rene.jones . An evening that underscored journalism’s essential role in ensuring that truth is seen, understood, and remembered. I was delighted to be in conversation with @itslizhannah about her film THE POST and its enduring portrait of journalistic responsibility during one of the most consequential moments in American history.
The Fourth Estate exists as both witness and record. It’s one of the few institutions whose purpose is not to wield power, but to observe it clearly and, when necessary, to hold it to account. Journalism asks for steadiness, discernment, and individuals willing to stand close enough to history to see it without illusion, and disciplined enough to render it truthfully.
It was a joy to feature my dear & darling friend Liz Hannah, whose work on The Post so indelibly captured the moral courage of Katharine Graham, a woman who discovered the full measure of her voice in a moment of profound consequence and, in doing so, helped define the responsibility entrusted to the Fourth Estate.
Katharine Graham’s decision to publish the Pentagon Papers wasn’t simply a moment of journalistic consequence, but a defining act of institutional integrity. She understood that the role of The Washington Post was not to protect power, but to serve the public record. Her leadership affirmed the press as an independent force. Her legacy endures in the standard she set, and in our continued expectation that the Fourth Estate will meet moments of consequence with clarity and resolve.
Thank you to @theiwmf for stewarding an evening of reflection and recognition. 🤍
I believe women’s stories are essential to a free and informed society, and I’m committed to advancing the IWMF’s mission to protect, support, and amplify the work of women journalists worldwide. It’s an honor to join their Board of Directors.
“Charmaine DeGraté is an Emmy-nominated writer, producer, and creator. She is among the few women writing and producing across multiple cinematic universes, including Star Wars, Game of Thrones, Warhammer, and Marvel. Known for infusing large-scale storytelling with emotional depth, political nuance, and character-driven narratives, DeGraté’s career reflects a sustained commitment to storytelling as both a cultural force and a conduit for our shared humanity.
A longstanding member of the IWMF’s Los Angeles Advisory Committee, DeGraté’s commitment to press freedom and telling stories of our shared human experience has helped the organization build community and philanthropic support in Southern California. In joining the Board, DeGraté will support the IWMF’s capacity-building at a global level.”

Last night, I had the privilege of co-hosting International Women’s Media Foundation’s Courage Awards with @willowbay and @gelilapuck . It was an honor for us to celebrate these extraordinary journalists and their commitment to press freedom. We were all moved by their powerful sense of purpose, and I encourage you to explore @lchooljian ’s groundbreaking reporting and Gulchehra Hoja’s
A Stone Is Most Precious Where it Belongs: A Memoir of Uyghur Exile, Hope, and Survival.
This year marks the 35th Anniversary of IWMF. Their work allows women journalists to report safely from around the world, ensuring stories that would have otherwise gone underreported become part of the global conversation.
In 2024, journalists are enduring more risks than ever, including physical and online violence, state-sponsored threats, armed conflicts, and natural disasters. These challenges are disproportionately affecting women journalists.
Preserving and protecting women’s perspective on global issues is essential to press freedom and a democratic society. I invite you to learn more about @theiwmf ’s bold and ambitious mission.🔗 in bio
