two years ago, i packed up everything that could fit in my car and drove down to miami, leaving behind my family, friends, a full time job with benefits (😭), and the comfort of everything i had ever known. i had no idea of the life that was waiting for me 1,340 miles away, but i knew i owed it to myself to take a chance
today, i stand as part of the 8% of latinas with a master’s degree. i can’t even express how much this means to me. big hugs to every version of myself that has shown up and carried me through each chapter. and all glory to God for giving me the strength, faith, and heart to keep going even when it felt HARD

moving to Miami without you was really hard, but our daily FaceTimes catching up on what we’re reading, cooking, and listening to have gotten me through these last two years apart. every fall, winter, spring, and summer break we made sure was spent together, full of excitement for all the sister dates we planned
i look up to you in every way! my love for school came from you. my passion for social justice. my learning to question. my excitement in becoming. you taught me how to keep going, how to grow through every reroute. you’ve held my hand through every new chapter and spoke life into every version of me (even the ones i’m not proud of). i am who i am because of you, and i thank God every day for making me your little sister. i love you always,
