For film director @charliemcdowell , the pairing of @andiedinkin and ocean conservation is particularly meaningful. His latest film, “The Summer Book”, was set and shot by the water, and Andie Dinkin is one of his all-time favourite artists.
“I’m excited that Andie is selling her work to support @oceana , a charity I’ve loved for many years because of its fierce commitment to protecting our oceans,” he says.
McDowell’s connection to the ocean runs deep: his mother and stepfather, actors @mary_steenburgen and @teddanson , have been advocating for ocean protection for over two decades, with Danson serving on Oceana’s board.

I struggle to find the words that best honors Bob and what he meant to me. I was lucky enough to direct him in my second film called The Discovery. I’ll never forget the moment I met with him and he said he wanted to be in the film. He was wearing a bandanna and a track suit and no one has ever looked cooler. I tried to contain my excitement as best I could but inside all I could think about was “did Robert fucking Redford just say yes to being in my film!?”
He changed my life in so many ways. I’m only making films today because of what he founded and created with @sundanceorg . He encouraged and inspired me to spend more time outside in nature and less time in the Hollywood bubble. He was gentle but stoic, kind but firm, and he deeply loved making movies and being a part of the community on set. I cherish every moment I spent with him, I only wish there were more of them. I will miss him greatly and I will be inspired by him forever.
Rest easy.
