In 2023, transparency improved by 5%. Of the charities we research, 34 more became transparent. While this is an improvement, it falls short of Canadian's expectations and the CRA's guidelines. While Ci's research on 829 charities represents just 1% of all Canadian charities, it accounts for ~ 50% of all Canadian giving. Though not exhaustive, this data sheds light on how the sector - and its largest players - have evolved over time. To learn more about how donations, overhead spending, reserves, transparency, and accountability have changed, read Ci's latest report: Charity Intelligence's 2023 Sector Snapshot. https://www.charityintelligence.ca/research-and-news/ci-views/33-donor-giving/778-charity-intelligence-s-2023-sector-snapshot
