Nocturne in Fm: waves collide with the precipice, shattering into 100,000 tiny droplets
This performance has been my musical highlight of the year! Huge thanks to @rosemclachlan_ for her thoughtful interpretation.
This nocturne was inspired by Chopin and the sea. When composing it, I wanted to bridge the gap between Chopin composing in the 19th century and myself composing today. I began in a Chopin-istic style before merging into my own voice and a more contemporary idiom.
The whole concert of 22 Nocturnes was very atmospheric. You can watch it in full on YouTube. Sheet music published by @evcmusicuk is available on amazon and musicroom (links in bio).
Thanks to all who came!

My debut album is out now! Link in bio. If you have a spare half an hour I would love it if you have a listen. Many thanks to @kesiadecote for her beautiful performance.
'Isolation' is a collection of piano miniatures which were composed between April and June 2020 during the Covid-19 government enforced quarantine. The music explores the moods and events experienced by myself and others during this time.

About last weekend...
The Opus Horizons Showcase.
The premiere of my new piece 'Under The Moon, Boats Whisper', alongside other fantastic new works from some great composers. It felt like a beautiful whirlwind of a day - I wish I could go back and do it all again!
I feel really privileged to have taken part in the Opus 1 scheme. I pushed myself out of my comfort zone, tried new things, and have learnt so much.
Huge thanks to @brittensinfonia1 for the opportunity, to @danihoward6 for the mentorship, and to my muso friends who were on the other end of the phone/email when I needed you. And of course, to all my friends who came and supported me on the concert day - it means a lot ๐

Well something exciting is happening next month!
The premiere of my new piece for flute, viola, and harp will be given at King's Place as part of the Britten Sinfonia composer development project Opus 1. This piece is my musical interpretation of evening visits to a marina on Lake Geneva.
If your curiosity is piqued and you like to support new music, then come along to hear my piece plus 5 other great new works. And then stay for the magnum Opus showcase afterwards!

๐ผ Contemplations is a collection of pieces for piano and vocalising pianist. Composed between 2021 and 2024, this collection explores different meanings of the word โaloneโ, whether feeling isolated, unseen, yearning for a meaningful connection, or finding enjoyment in your own company.
The human voice represents our truest feelings, those which are often suppressed by the noise of daily life. Using the pianistโs voice draws attention to this important part of ourselves and serves as a reminder of the delicacy of the human experience.ย ย

So...I thought it might be fun to do the substack thing!
I'll be talking about my composing process, sharing general inspirations and works in progress etc.
If that interests you and you like reading things in more depth than instagram allows, please join me and subscribe - its free! Link in bio.
My page is in its infancy, but over the years it will grow, like a giant beanstalk from some magic beans ๐
Exciting news! My Contemplation No.2 will be premiered next month by Fidan Aghayeva-Edler @divineshark as part of the 24 Stunden Komponistinnen Piano Marathon vol. 2.
Last year Fidan performed Contemplations No.1 and No.3 at the first Piano Marathon (No.2 hadn't been finished yet ๐ฌ๐ ), so I'm thrilled that No.2 is being featured in this year's Piano Marathon.
This time I'll be able to attend the performance so I'm very much looking forward to that. Also excited to have a little explore of Berlin!
