Theory in the Remix (2022) is an invitation to collectively explore the conditions for ‘sonic modes of study’. The same-titled seminars are structured as four (4) two-hour workshops at State of Concept Athens, on the 20th and 27th of October and the 3rd and 10th of November, as part of the Waste/d Pavilion 3. Participants are invited to depart from passive lecture formats and readapt the ideas of the seminar and the remix as prompts to ruse otherwise the intellectual and practical ways of a study group. In short, they are called to consider what has been epistemologically, theoretically or artistically deemed as ‘invalid’, ‘a-formal’ or ‘uncategorized’ through means of expanded post-production. In the in between of a conference room and a concert hall – where knowledge moves between sound and its descriptions – participants will collectively explore the limits of sampling and mixing otherwise, in order to compose or to perform a collective and uncommon remix. Theory in the Remix (2022) draws on: practices and literature in the periphery of sound studies, sonic & theory fictions as well as the form of audio essay as essential forms of rusing sonic narratives, feminist practices related to listening and their relevant citational practices, but also critical approaches on consciousness-raising and its acoustic dimension. At the same time, it wishes to broaden contemporary yet heterogenous perspectives related to DJing, advocating it as a multimodal prompt for hybriduous art research that challenges issues of authorship and knowledge production in their implicit social space. 'Θεωρία Σακιδίου' για τις Διαδρομές @stimarpissa Η ‘Θεωρία Σακιδίου’ αποτελεί ένα ηχητικό αφήγημα που συνδέει το εμβληματικό κείμενο της Ursula Le Guin (ελλ. Η Θεωρία του Σακιδίου στη Φαντασία, 2021) με την ‘αποσπερνιά’, τη συντροφική στιγμή αφηγήσεων και παράλληλης χειρωνακτικής εργασίας που παραδοσιακά ακολουθούσε το θερισμό (Ζ. Στέλλας, 2005) και λάμβανε χώρα στην κατοικιά.  Στη ‘Θεωρία Σακιδίου’, η άγρια βρώμη των προϊστορικών πληθυσμών της Le Guin συναντά συνειρμικά το ζιζάνιο της άγριας βρώμης στα χωράφια σιτηρών του Λαού της Μάρπησσας. Το κείμενο διασκευάζεται μέσα απο κυκλικές μεταφράσεις και διαρυγνύεται από τις αφηγήσεις γυναικών της Μάρπησσας σχετικά με τις αναμνήσεις της αποσπερνιάς όπου η κατοικιά ως άλλη πελώρια και αχανής τσάντα εξιστορήσεων, εργαλείων, καρπών και συλλογικής συνύπαρξης δίνει φωνή σε νέες αφηγήσεις.“Μαζεύοντας σπόρους και λέγοντας ιστορίες” (Le Guin, 2021, 282) η Ιωάννα, η Μαρουσσώ, η Μαργαρίτα, η Χαρούλα, η Μαργαρίτα, η Ούρσουλα, η Φλόρενς συνθέτουν αυτό το ακουστικό docu-fiction, ως θεωρία ενός ακόμη σακιδίου, συνοδευόμενο από ηχογραφήσεις πεδίου των σιτηρών και της άγριας βρώμης στον τόπο παλαιών κατοικιών. *Κυνηγοί με ύψιλον (δαίμων του τυπογραφείου)😆

The DJ's personal orbit through the musical universe connecting elements in certain order (Bourriaud), the struggles and discontent inscripted in the popular (Stuart Hall)--in our case popular music--the playlist and the reference-list interwoven together to compose this peculiar classroom community (bell hooks) of listening to what remains elusive. The DJ lecture hopes it had generated this generous space for audibility to function through speaking of the sea from the mountains to the coast, starting from a local yet radiant tidal universe of the Mediterranean, the passively enjoyed dancefloors and resentment to the ways in which we could speak of those significant things while changing contexts, dealing with knowledge, working with theory, exploding the references, feeling the feeling.
