Happy 2026 It's Mony from Charandeando. What is Charandeando? The word "charanda" comes from the P'urhépecha word for "red-colored soil." Most people may be familiar with the word "charanda" as the aguardiente or spirit alcohol. However, I am familiar with it as a childhood game of sledding (usually with just using your feet lol) on giant mountains of charanda, casually referred to as "charandear" mixing P'urhé & Spanish. I never got to play myself as open cerro has long been flattened out and fenced. In my own way, I carry that joy, curiosity and spirit whenever I travel around P'urhépecheri aka Michoacán, Mexico. Thus, we have Charandeando. Either welcoming you to my family's ancestral lands via tours & workshops, or bringing a little of P'urhépecheri to markets in the states. If you want to co-host a vending day or would like to invite me to facilitate a workshop, shoot me a DM or email me at [email protected]. Stay tuned for tour announcements in the next few days! I will have special experiences for fellow Native & Indigenous relatives, and artists, too. Picture description: Paternal Tata carrying baby Mony on his lap. We are sitting on a ledge in his home patio/courtyard located in Pueblo Zirahuén. We are surrounded by potted plants, and the post and walls are painted red and white (story on these colors later). ¡Vamos a Charandear!

My Amor Eterno shirt was snatched immediately haha so this is the only photo. Next up, LAnd Back Pt. 2... stay tuned ¡Vamos a charandear!
