Thrilled to say that In All Directions is out now. Those who know me well (and probably even those who don’t) know that this has been a very long time coming. I’m wildly grateful to finally be able to share something substantial, considered, and honest with you.
This album starts with a question: “Do you remember just how you lost your body? Do you recall the night you felt it slip away?” It’s a question I started asking myself in a moment of intense dislocation, when it seemed like my whole way of living was suddenly alien to me. It ends with a kind of mantra; less an answer than a realization of how wrong-headed the question was to begin with: “I extend in all directions. My body is a plane. I am all the things I’m made of. My body is a plane.”
It turns out: the clanging pain of failing to be something in particular (which is the same, I think, as realizing that this something-in-particular could never have held you, anyway) can help you rediscover everything you’ve already been and the freedom of being anything at all, in all directions.
I have a billion things to say but for now it’s most important that I thank Sam Plecker for being the best partner I could have asked for on this project. You made these songs brand new to me and I’m so proud to have your name is all over this thing.

"young men in suits" is out now 💻🔨
a song about computers and trees and history. wrote this one several years back when i was at the tail end of my former life as a researcher. during those years i spent a lot of time in archives looking at circuit diagrams and reading technical reports. i was trying to understand a bit more about how our technological present happened the way it did and why it looks the way it does (bad). this is one way i eventually found to tell some of that story.

I'm flustered! I'm in a flap! I'm over the moon!
Had just the best time on Friday celebrating the album with a room full of gorgeous friends. I'm so grateful to everyone who came and listened, to Threadbare, Brother for sharing his stunning songs, to Puff Piece for creating such a perfect little companion for In All Directions, and to Immortal Cafe & Supply for creating such a warm, beautiful environment for us all to enjoy.
I'm even grateful to our utterly insubordinate sound system for giving me the chance to perform the way I like the most, out from behind the mic.
Making and sharing this album has been such a gift and I am just so appreciative of everyone who's taken a moment to listen, share, or send a message. It means the whole damn world.
