Really fun Buffy-themed party at @proofsocialclub tonight! Great to see so many people dressed up as their favorite characters. 🦇

Very different weather In the islands in past Few months... everyone saying there is weather modification happening and I would say no... but since we had a "Kona Low" (never heard of one in my life) it's been very weird.
Snow or hail in Downtown Honolulu?? For a second there, before it started to pour, I looked out my window and saw what looked like white flakes coming from the sky... Nuts!

Pau hana at @pigeonhole.hi in the former Tlaxicalli space on Smith Street... Snacks, unique cocktails, and a fine tequila tasting!
I remembered to take some pics of the pigeon paraphernalia this time, and gifted them a "Pigeons of Chinatown" photo of my own.

#Latergram of the #acidwashhnl 20th anniversary party at @nextdoorhi ! I was so tired but it made my heart happy to see old friends... And even older friends. Does this count as geezer status? Shout-out to the former dosomethingtonight.com crew, the amazing Ana @la_cutie_fotos , Honolulu gothmother @djnocturna (new @diesinthelight_honolulu goth night coming in June!) and DJ Vegas Mike @licatarules , who I haven't seen in a decade!

Well that's fun... For those of you in the 808 who got this as a text today, don't be confused, it is a SCAM. Also, apparently HI has jurisdiction over MO now, which made me laugh.

First time at the subtly(?) appropriate pigeon-themed @pigeonhole.hi , in the former Tlaxicalli space on Smith Street in Chinatown! Amazing food (the deviled tea eggs are my new favorite thing) and really interesting craft cocktails (I'd go back for the pho-flavored Scotch-based Ho Lee Phuc). Someone even gave them a copy of my Pigeons of Chinatown photo zine! Please forgive the lack of pigeon pics this time around, I'll be back soon to try more menu items, talk story, and search out (possibly contribute to) the theme. Welcome to the neighborhood, guys! 😊

Fun evening out at Art at the Capitol with the local arts and community movers and shakers!
Got to see some stunning art pieces I've never seen before, scattered throughout the Hawaii State Capitol building, plus performances by @hiyouthsymphony , @ballethawaii and our new Poet Laureate, Lee Tonouchi @pidginguerrilla ! 🎨

The ARTS at Marks Garage @artsatmarks closing hits me right in the heart. It is the death of something beautiful, and fragile, and one of a kind. It's a special place, one which so many of us in the local arts scene helped to build, and which in turn, helped us grow.
My first experience as a curator was here, and it was here that I weathered the Pandemic.
As an incubator for emerging artists, it has filled a niche in the community that no one else did. As an advocate and leader of the grassroots First Friday movement over 20 years ago, the little gallery that could, did, setting an example for the entire neighborhood of what creativity, drive, and artistic imagination could accomplish.
Countless shows, art exhibitions, and joyfully eccentric experiences later, the Chinatown Arts District is losing a cornerstone, but passion alone won't pay the bills.
Much love and gratitude to all who have contributed to this amazing venue throughout its lifetime. The physical location may be no more, but our memories of it will endure.
