This Mental Health Awareness Week, the theme is Action. 🎵
At Changing Tunes, we see how creative expression, connection and music can support mental health and emotional wellbeing every day.
Participants have recently told us:
💬 “Music lifts me out of darkness and shows me some light in life.”
💬 “Every time I need to calm down I play the guitar. This has got me through my sentence.”
💬 “For at least one hour and forty five minutes, I am not in prison.”
Real change starts with action, and sometimes that action is simply giving someone the space to be heard. 💜

Last week, members of our team attended a parliamentary event on the work of the Women's Justice Board.
Rea, our Fundraising Manager, and Isie, Senior Musician-in-Residence, were part of the discussions exploring how to better support women and girls within the criminal justice system.
It was a powerful space to listen, learn and reflect, and a reminder of how important it is that lived experience and creative approaches are included.

🎶 Final stretch: meet Sharon 🏃♀️
With just days to go until the @londonmarathon , we’re sharing a final word from one of our #TeamCT runners - Sharon.
Sharon only started running in her mid-forties, and in the last 10 years has gone on to complete 30 marathons and 12 ultramarathons!
Now, after nine years in the ballot, she’s finally taking on London. “I’m looking forward to running down the Mall with thousands of others - the atmosphere will be unforgettable.”
Sharon is running to support Changing Tunes because: “Knowing how this charity helps those on the outskirts of society fills me with hope and purpose.”
And she’s already made an incredible impact, raising over £3,000 👏
Together, #TeamCT has now raised over £27,000 to support our work using music to help people build meaningful, crime-free lives.
