'not anymore'-- out now (I STAYED ON TRACK IN 2023)
Happy NY y'all and thank you for sticking with me on these monthly song releases. 2023 has been one of the best and fullest years I've ever had.
I made and released 12 new songs this year while solo travelling the east coast of Australia. Keeping to deadlines amongst all the chaos has helped me shed so many hang ups when it comes to creating and releasing music and (after a bit of a break) I feel way more ready to make some bigger moves.
Looking back at these songs, each marks a very different part of this year's journey for me and hearing them back brings a kind of nostalgia for the times they were made. This final song marks my return to the home studio. Which I've since realized I don't necessarily need, but damn does it make life easier. 'not anymore' came together in a day (as usual at this point). Its pretty simple and sparse in its arrangement but feels rich and full to me.

'Spitting Image'-- out now (ON TRACK SERIES NEARLLLY DONEEE SHEEEEESH)
This month has been hectic as- I finished working at the Avo Farm then spent almost 3 weeks travelling the Daintree Rainforest with some friends.
I've barely had any time (or electricity) to make music but I've been determined to meet my monthly song release goal for 2023. So damn close now...
So even after nearly rolling my car off a fucking hill yesterday, I was still determined to do this. So I got a private room, and started working and what came of that is a weird existential but also laidback song called 'Spitting Image'
'Spitting image' is a jazz influenced track with a personal touch and themes surrounding self growth and heritage.

'Love's a Habit'- OUT NOW
Was meant to be working at the avocado farm today in Mareeba, FNQ but I chucked a sickie and made this song instead.
Left this month's track to the very last minute, but over the year I've become much more confident with these releases and so I trusted that it would come together anyway.
So today, I finally set up the studio at my spot at the Riverside Caravan Park and while everyone else was out working, I conceptualized, produced, wrote, recorded, mixed and mastered "Love's a Habit".
I'm pretty proud of this one, especially for being made in a day and without any help. But most importantly, I proved to myself that I could do it under the pressure of the deadline.
I'm happy and enjoying life, hope you are too <3
KURANDA JOINTS 🍃 OUT NOW (september still on track yeeee)
--After jamming with some new travelling friends in Kuranda- we decided to set up an impromptu recording studio in a tent at our campsite.
With me producing, Lidia playing guitar, Decca on the bass and Katja singing- we rolled up a couple joints to help relax and get the creativity flowing. The inspiration (and the smoke) clearly hit us quickly as that night we made 'Kuranda Joints'.
It all came together super naturally in the session with everyone just having fun, bouncing off each other and sharing their talents on the track. Everything that was recorded that night in the tent studio has been left mostly unchanged- to keep it sounding simple, organic and raw as was the vibe :)

'Every Day' is out now (link in bio). AUGUST STILL ON TRACK BABYYYY
I often use samples in my songs but with this one I wanted to make it myself without outside input.
I wrote and recorded 'Every Day' in the communal area of Backpackers@1770 in Agnes Water, QLD.
It does feel weird experimenting with ideas in public but it also pushed me to stay more focused. And I've been getting more confident with guitar so that definitely helped it all come together :)

A flip of 'Hold On, Hold You' by Wild Child,
'Hold On Forever' contrasts darker themes surrounding heartbreak and infidelity with a fun, upbeat tone.
The song was produced in one session, written in the next and recorded in one take on the day of release. Trying to shed my overly perfectionist process a bit with this one, while still being satisfied and proud of the final track.

NEW MUSIC VIDEO OUT NOW
With one hand holding the camera and the other guiding Bluey the dog, we set off around the suburban streets of Fig Tree Pocket on our daily sunset walkies.
Set to the sweet sounds of my latest (and possibly favourite) song released so far, it's a reminder to find beauty in the normalcy and value the relationships, places and lives we already have.
