Made a drum out of an #OldWoodenBucket. Not sure why but doing shit like this is has become totally invaluable to my creative practice and without it, playing music would almost be pointless. Idk.
The groove I play is a crude approximation of the great Christopher McGuire’s part on “Red” by 12 Rods. It’s a great one to shed for independence and for when you soundcheck the “whole kit” at a gig. McGuire is a monster drummer and a shining example of how palette (that is, the sounds a drummer makes available to themself) is just as important as chops and coming up with a cool part

Leaving chicago for a few weeks to play drums on tour with the magnificent band Case Oats. We’ll be opening for the bands Lucius and Superchunk. Very excited to play music all around the US, including the mysterious Arkansas. Including the Oats dates at the back of this post for if anyone from elsewhere wants to come get their world rocked.

Hey everyone. We are excited to announce that we have a CD coming out this weekend on KlangGalerie. The name of the CD is The Pelican and our band was called Halcyon Daze. We’ve wanted to release this album for a long time and are proud that it’s seeing the light of day. Halcyon Daze was a jazz-punk quartet influenced by The Lounge Lizards, Last Exit, The Beautiful Sunshine Band, La Monte Young, etc.
We recorded this album in 2016 With @oooivanoo on saxophones, @p.ch0p on woodwinds and woodblock, @_._._._._._._._life on electric guitar and electric bass, and @chafing on drums and cymbals. @knightintunisia is featured on two songs, playing the cello and electric bass.
Chris Cunningham engineered it, @jamespatrickduncan mixed it, Martin (of @attrition_uk ) mastered it and @baltoheadquarters did all of the artwork. CDs are available now from KlangGalerie and should be in stores around the world soon, or DM for an in-person pickup.
