Having cancer is hard, but that is widely discussed and fairly well understood in todayâs world. Being married to someone with cancer is also VERY hard and the not so well discussed component of a complicated medical diagnosis. As much of a hell my body went through last year, Sophia was there the WHOLE time in another version of a hell with all of its own challenges. Except, that hell doesnât come equipped with a well understood potential exit plan of treatments, scans, or protocols. I canât overstate her strength, courage, and wisdom enough. Despite the challenge, she found ways to navigate that hell with grace and still does everyday.
Sophia means A LOT of wonderful things to me and to the world. She probably deserves an entire book describing her character, talents and insanely massive heart. The TL;DR of this yearâs chapter in that book is that she is like an Oscar award winning producer and director of a really compelling story of resilience, integrity, honesty, leadership, and grace. All these things she expresses consistently in the way she communicates, creates, serves and even struggles. Although she is a serial optimist and dreamer she is somehow still SO grounding. It just so happens that in her world the moon and the stars are her âgroundâ and she has a natural knack of bringing everyone around her up there with her.
We like to joke that she can predict the future but turns out you donât need to predict anything when the whole time you have been in complete control of it! She is a talented composer of all beautiful things and leaves everything and everyone inspired by her aura.
I love her more than ever and I canât believe I get to be married to her. Happy anniversary Stophers â¤ď¸
