On May 17th, 2004, Tanya McCloskey and Marcia Kadish became the first same-sex couple to be legally married in the United States after the state of Massachusetts deemed it unconstitutional to deny anyone the right to marry on the basis of sexual orientation. Kadish later said in an interview, "We wanted to lead by example, not that we were leaders of anything. We just wanted to make sure that the world saw the most positive side of being a gay couple."

In the '90s, local legend Jeff Norton wrote and performed RADIANT CHILD, a one-man show about the life of Keith Haring. It was remounted with Christopher Rutherford in 2012, who then reached out to me alongside Bob Devin Jones in 2016 to bring it back a second time.
It was a wild experience that I never expected to relive, but thanks to the urging of Anthony Gervais, I'll be performing a staged reading of it as a part of @americanstage 's Fresh Ink series this Tuesday (May 27) at 6 PM at The @dalimuseum ! I hope you'll join us for this beautiful celebration of art and the legacies of both Haring and Norton, two tremendous talents who were taken from us far too soon. ❤️

The post-election blues were in full effect yesterday, but an unexpected bright spot came in the form of rehearsals for The Sunshine Boys, an upcoming show I'm a part of.
At last night's rehearsal, we laughed and yelled and channeled everything we were feeling into the show we're creating. For those handful of hours...everything felt slightly less dire.
It was a wonderful reminder that we need our creative pursuits and community now more than ever, and -- as silly as it sounds -- I hope we can provide similar catharsis to anyone who comes to laugh along with us in two weeks. ❤️
