Deep in the preparation of our next short film, I found myself looking through the photos from
@campdalemotion ās last premiere event - a screening of my first 3 short films
@princecharlescinema in November. Reliving those moments, beautifully captured by
@smeoy and
@ko.ko.roll , reminded me of the reasons why I strive on this thrilling, but also at times, tumultuous and arduous path that is filmmaking.
Films help me see the world from another pair of eyes; to immerse myself fully in emotions, feelings, and thoughts I otherwise would not have in my day to day. And partaking in this experience in the cinema, sharing such an experience with a collective of equally curious minds, laughing together with the stranger sat next to me, or crying with one sat four rows behind, is a phenomenon comparable to little else. At a time when the world seems to be tearing itself apart, we need these experiences more than ever before.
So this next story I am preparing to lens is a heartfelt one about a young manās struggles of growing up without a father - an experience I thankfully cannot relate to directly, but one that nevertheless strongly speaks to me because of the love I have for each of my parents. Coming on board as director of photography way back when, to getting the project where it is now - less than 1 week away from the shoot - has been an enormous labour of love. And finally, if youāre gutted at having missed our last Campdale Motion premiere event or canāt wait to attend our next one, fret not! The very special
@peterka_78 will be showcasing his next film - another product crafted out of love - in just over 1 monthās time. Be sure to follow
@campdalemotion to stay tuned with the updates.
Iām forever grateful to each and every person who was with us last November, or the premiere before, or the many others to comešš¼Your continued belief and support make all the difference.
