I can only begin to let y’all know how grateful I am to have shared this stage with these amazing dancers and performers! I have witnessed them all create amazing art on stage, at battles, in the club, on wax, on paper, and I honored that they said yes to playing in SATURN with me 🤩🙏🏾
I had so much fun making this piece with them. And, with all of the BS we have to live through just to get to the studio or theater, cultivating fun and joy revealed itself as a technique that can be practiced. Fun and joy can be crafted!
One of the questions that formed the foundation for SATURN is how can we make the abolition of oppression a series of joyful events? It was nice to return to that question throughout this creative process.
Through dance and storytelling, liberation is possible!
