A failed attempt at wine tasting near Etna led us to the mountaintop village of Castigliano di Sicilia and a castle at the very top. Bonus delicious dinner at a cute little restaurant and dizzying views of the valley.

Last July, I ran across this crazy vintage smoking accessory at a flea market near the Filmoteca here in Barcelona. The owner wanted €30, I offered €20 and she wouldn’t budge. Some months later I saw it again at a different flea market and she wanted €25. When I again offered €20, she refused. Today, over 6 months later, I once again saw it on the table at the flea market in front of the Filmoteca but this time the guardian of the treasure had left the cave entrance in the hands of her idiot Man Friday and so, for €15, I finally won the contest of wills.
