Separation from a parent due to incarceration can be confusing and painful for children. Grief, fear, and big emotions are natural, even if they don’t always show it. You can support them by: 💛 Comforting them through routine and care 💛 Listening to their feelings without judgment 💛 Creating a safe, loving space Learn more: /resources/how-children-grieve-and-how-to-help/?utm_source=sfmc&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Newsletter_ResourcesForYou&testind=false&sfmcsub=73226333

Our Children’s Letter Writing Kits include: • fun paper & envelopes • activity sheets • bookmark • pencil & eraser • & more! This Giving Tuesday, help us send more kits to more children. Today, on International Children’s Day, we recognize the strength, creativity, and resilience of children across Canada, especially those with a parent or loved one in custody. Separation can be confusing and emotional, and children deserve tools that help them feel understood, connected, and supported. At CFCN, we’ve created child-friendly resources designed to make that connection a little easier: 📚 Storybooks for Tough Conversations Our Jeffrey and Jemma storybooks gently guide children through real experiences: visiting a parent in prison, navigating release and reintegration, and understanding when a mother is in custody. 🦸 Dead Ball Specialist Comic Canada’s first youth comic about incarceration uses the idea of a “dead ball” in soccer, a moment of pause, to teach resilience, identity, and getting back up after setbacks. ✉️ Children’s Letter Writing Kits These fun kits include colouring pages, activity sheets, and fun stationary that help children express themselves and stay connected with their parent or loved one, even when communication feels hard. 📖 Let’s Read a Book Program Parents inside can record themselves reading a story. Their child can listen at home and hear their voice which strengthens their connection. 🤝 Parent–Child Activity Sheets Activities designed specifically for phone calls, video visits, in-person visits, or mail. These sheets help families bond even when separated by distance or restrictions. Check these out on our website at cfcn-rcafd.org

🌟 International Men’s Day reminds us of the impact men have on their families and communities. We celebrate fathers who are working, often through incredible challenges, to stay connected with their children. Whether in custody or in the community, these dads are learning, growing, and strengthening bonds that matter. Today, we honour: 👔 Fathers putting in the work 📞 Parents staying connected however they can 📚 Men committed to self-growth 💛 Children who remind their dads what they’re fighting for To all the dads: your love makes a difference, and your journey matters.
