These two linocuts feature venues and record stores important to soul music lovers in Chicago and New York. In Chicago: the historic Regal Theater that was in Bronzeville and hosted the Motown Review, the iconic institution Out of the Past Records in Garfield Park, and the newer venue Color Club in Irving Park where @heart_of_chicago_soul_club hosts dance parties. In NYC: the Apollo which needs no introduction, Human Head Records and Bleecker Bob's Records, and Otto's Shrunken Head where @essc.nyc hosts their parties. @badartteacher created the dancing statues Grateful to the women in these collectives for giving me some motivation to play around with mediums other than clay, and huge thanks to Liz at @hoofprintchicago for showing me how to use the press and helping me print these linocuts 💚

A little experiment on a mug too dry to carve, just a quick doodle in underglaze, stains, and glazes. Text by my friend Priscilla about what it felt like to play on stage at the Empty Bottle for the first time after going to shows there for years 💜 Check out her new project @lav.haz

possum lantern! you all I’m phoning it in! don’t feel like it’s worth the time to edit my photos offline anymore to fix the lighting and color distortion, just to train ai and suck up all the water in our beautiful Great Lakes. I love sharing artwork outside my immediate circles and have five new brick mugs for Hull House coming soon… but I’m mulling over exit plans from this app Welcome any ideas people have about sharing offline or on independent platforms!

when your favorite part of Halloween is the crafts 🦇 created a sculptural candle holder for my table I used an extruder for the first time to create this piece, then pulled them like a handle to get a tapered effect in the middle of each tube, and wider diameter toward the foot for stability.
