My 5 year old son can draw ! Zion has been drawing almost everyday since he was 2 years old. We’ve saved his drawings and we’ll be sharing them with the world. Over the past 2 months Zion has over 200 draws so to everyone waiting on seeing more, they’re comming + the drawings from his 12 hour marathon yesterday. On 16th March 2023 our lives changed overnight when our son Zion was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) at 2 years old. Zion had lost a serious amount of weight and was experiencing excruciating tummy pains which were some of the symptoms that led us to A&E. After a series of questions they checked his blood sugar and discovered he was in severe DKA with a blood sugar at 49.9 mmol. For those who don’t know DKA is a life-threatening emergency that can be a consequence of undiagnosed T1D. Outside of families experiencing T1D, it’s not well known or understood which is why Zion was not diagnosed quicker, despite us talking to our GP/Doctor across a 2 week period. Over the last 3 years Zion has been the bravest, most inspiring, happy child through it all, that’s why this Friday the 14th of November on World Diabetes Day Zion will be doing a 12 hour art marathon with his family, friends and supporters to raise money for an event we are planning to raise awareness about Type 1 Diabetes, so that no other family has to navigate this alone and so people can understand what is needed to support the experience of those living with it. On Friday 14th November, Draw a picture and post it up on social media with #DrawforDiabetes and @Zionsworld2020 - we welcome drawings from any age group, it can be a picture of anything and doesn’t have to be a perfect drawing, whatever time and effort you put in is appreciated. 3. Join Zion live on YouTube as he draws from 8am to 8pm (with breaks and joined by a few guests). I’m so proud of this kid. Zion is 5, lives with Type 1 diabetes but doesn’t let that ruin his life experience. He wakes up everyday and takes like head on. He’s talented at many things specifically drawing and has received over 400 visits to his website since it launched. (Sale count comming soon). He’s such a decent human being and has a lot of love to give.
