Yesterday, we held a press conference at
@centralymca with the Hawaii Statewide Office on Homelessness and Housing Solutions (SOHHS) to announce a critical public-private partnership addressing housing challenges for our guests. We were joined by leaders including John Mizuno, Governorʻs Coordinator on Homelessness; Sam Moku, Homeless Coordinator, City & County of Honolulu Community Services;
@senatormoriwaki ; Representative
@adrianktam ; Honolulu City Councilmember
@calvinsayhawaii ; Greg Waibel, CEO of #YMCAHonolulu; and Mavis, a #CentralYMCA guest, who shared their insights and commitment to finding solutions.
This collaboration provides vital subsidies for seven long-term guests previously supported by our financial aid program, which was fully expended in 2024. With YMCA support through January 9, 2025, and the State funding $1,300 per month for three additional months through April 9, 2025, we are ensuring immediate relief while creating a pathway to stable housing and long-term solutions. We are deeply grateful to our partners for their shared commitment to providing stability, solutions, and brighter futures for those in need.
