Jobs are important. A job is not just about income. It gives dignity, confidence, routine, purpose and hope for oneself and one’s family. That is why my Central Singapore CDC team formed a special partnership with e2i through the Jobs Nearby @ CDC programme. 😊 We want to help residents — especially seniors, caregivers, persons with disabilities, mid-career workers and those restarting life — find meaningful jobs, preferably closer to home. At the same time, we also want to support businesses (profit n not-for-profits ) struggling with manpower needs. One heartwarming example is Uggli Muffins at Toa Payoh West Market. After years of difficulty hiring, our Job Ambassadors helped connect them with residents living nearby. A simple match perhaps — but one that made life better for both employer and employees. 💛 Our Job Ambassadors do more than job matching. They journey with residents, encourage them, connect them to opportunities and training, and help businesses find suitable workers within the community. As technology and AI continue changing the way we work, we must ensure opportunities remain accessible, practical and human-centred — so that no one is left behind. Together with Central Singapore CDC (@centralsgcdc ), we held our first Financial Fitness Workshop at Kallang Community Club to bring practical and accessible financial education to the community of approximately 100 Whampoa residents. Graced by Mayor Denise Phua (@denisephua ) and local Grassroots Advisor Shawn Loh (@shawnloh.sg ), the interactive workshop covered the essentials of saving, insurance protection, investing, and legacy planning. Participants gained clearer insights and simple steps into managing their finances. Each voice has a story. And every story deserves a chance to be heard. At this joint performance between The Purple Symphony and Institution A5’s Performing Arts Centre Band, music became more than preparation for a performance, it became a way for people from different backgrounds to connect, listen and create something meaningful together. Beyond the notes and melodies, this was a shared experience built on trust, respect and the belief that everyone has something valuable to contribute. Because when we look beyond differences and come together through a common purpose, we create space for belonging, understanding and second chances.
