This Saturday we have a space available for you to join us for Introduction to Paper Marbling, Foundation Patterns. This is an introductory class using modern American paper marbling techniques. The four foundation patterns, Stone, Getgel, Nonpareil and Chevron, will be introduced plus an opportunity to build on at least one of the patterns. Participants can expect to complete 6-8 papers. Printing Broadsides with Community, A Wheat Paste Project - join us for this free program and raise your voice through print activism. Saturday, May 16th, 10 am - 12pm, introduction and writing workshop Saturday, May 30th, 1-4pm, Printmaking workshop Saturday, June 13th, 10am -2:30pm, Wheat paste prints in the community Saturday, July 11th, 1-5pm, exhibition of prints and photographs of wheat pasting action Inspired by Jessica Snow’s @snowcrow30 paste-up program during the Ladies of Letterpress Conference in 2023 @ladiesofltrprs we are hosting Printing Broadsides with Community, A Wheat Paste Project. At the first meetup participants will develop their content with @paciaelaine and learn the basics of printing with type. During the second workshop participants will compose and print their original works onto newsprint with help from a team of printmakers including @kenyamitchell_art , @thelobstermob , @delmarprints , @maddieraeklaus . The third time we meet, everyone will go into the community to post their broadsides in approved locations throughout the neighborhood. The prints will be adhered to walls and boards using wheat paste(temporary method for gluing paper to porous materials). An exhibition in July will feature pictures detailing the entire process, and a selection of their original prints will be exhibited. Free program for printing and sharing what’s on your mind. Reductive Linoleum Print Class Theme: Symbolism from the Natural World Reductive Relief offers the opportunity to print with multiple colors all from one block! Whether you are new to linocut or a veteran, this process is an exploration of combining color layering and composition. We will be exploring themes of symbolism with imagery and ideas pulled from the natural world. This 5-session class allows for plenty of design and carving time. Students will be able to print a small edition. Central Print supplies paper, ink, linoleum blocks and has a selection of carving tools to use in the studio. Happy Poem in Your Pocket Day! 🌸 We had such an amazing event yesterday with @centralprintstudios for a poetry writing and printmaking workshop! No poetry writing experience was required — but poets we did make! ✍️ Each person set out to write a short 4-5 line poem, then learned to set text in letter press equipment which were printed to hand out today! Thank you @ckeaslerart for leading the workshop and so skillfully helping with word prompts and teaching us how to letter press! A super fun event!
