We cannot think our way through something that is stored in the body. In this clip, Wendy Stern shares why somatic work matters in grief and how breath, movement, and awareness can help us begin to metabolize what we are carrying. If you support grieving clients or are navigating your own loss, this is an important reframe. Grief does not need to be fixed. It needs space. #grief #griefsupport #therapistofinstagram #griefpodcast #somatic * * Follow @grief_is_the_new_normal for grief podcast, mental health, self-care, sass, and dark humor content whether you’re grieving or you’re a mental health professional needing more modern grief language. * * Wanting more grief specific support? Grief doesn’t just live in your thoughts. It lives in your chest. Your throat. Your breath. Your body. And yet… most of us have only been taught how to talk about grief. Not how to actually feel it. In this episode of Grief is the New Normal, I sat down with Wendy Stern to talk about what happens when we stop trying to think our way through grief and start listening to the body instead. We talk about: • how grief gets stored in the body • why numbness is not failure, it is protection • what it means to metabolize grief • how breath can be a doorway back to yourself • and why being witnessed can change everything Because grief will find a way out. The question is whether we give it space… or it forces its way through. You do not have to fix your grief. And you do not have to do it alone. #griefsupport #griefpodcast #therapistofinstagram #somatichealing #somaticgrief * * Follow @grief_is_the_new_normal for grief podcast, mental health, self-care, sass, and dark humor content whether you’re grieving or you’re a mental health professional needing more modern grief language. * * Wanting more grief specific support? Grief doesn't follow a schedule. It doesn't care how long it's been or whether you feel like you should be "over it" by now. The Mindful Grieving Journey is a 6-month somatic program where we slow down, come back to the body, and learn to be with grief rather than fight it. Yoga, breathwork, meditation, and a small circle of people who understand what you're carrying. We begin March 24th. One spot still remains. If it's calling you, the link to register is in my bio — or send me a message and we can connect first. I'd love to welcome you into our circle. #MindfulGrieving #SomaticHealing #EmotionalWellness #YogaForGrief #BreathworkJourney #MeditationPractice #CommunitySupport #HealingTogether #SelfCompassion

No matter the shape, size, or timeline of your grief, big or small, it is valid and worthy of being felt. 💛 You are worthy of feeling it. When we push grief away, discount our experience, or compare it to someone else’s, the pain can grow louder, sometimes showing up in unexpected ways. Comparison creates separation, loneliness, and disconnection. Take a moment and notice your internal response when I say: Your grief is valid, and worthy of being felt. What comes up for you? Tell me in the comments or reach out in DMs. I’d love to connect with you. #MindfulGrieving #GriefIsValid #YouAreWorthy #HealingTogether #FeelYourFeelings

If you’re highly sensitive, this moment in the world is a lot. I’ve been paying closer attention to what actually helps, for myself and for my two teenage daughters, who both feel things deeply too. In this video I’m sharing three things I keep coming back to: more alone time, nervous system regulation (breath, box breathing, touch), and an energetic bubble that doesn’t wall you off but gives you just enough buffer so you can still feel without holding everyone else’s weight. None of this is complicated. It’s just worth remembering. If you’re in it right now — sending you love. 🤍 #mindfulgrieving #griefsupport #somatichealing #griefjourney #griefandhealing

In one week, something shifted. Feelings surfaced. Fear softened. Connection returned. What she thought might take a year began to open in days. This is what happens when grief is met with care, community, and the body—held in a place that feels both grounding and expansive. The relationships formed here don’t fade when the week ends. They change how you meet people, and how you meet life. If you’re wondering whether this experience is worth it, hear this: it is. Registration is closing. DM me if you’d like to hop on a free info call or receive the details.

Why did I decide to lead retreats on Maui? Because grief needs space, time, and separation from daily life. And nature supports the nervous system in ways we can’t replicate at home. I’ll be guiding the Awakening Through Grief Retreat in Maui, April 26 – May 1, 2026. This is a six-day immersive experience rooted in somatic practice, reflection, and community. Registration is closing. The true magic of the Awakening Through Grief Retreat Is not the location or the practices. It’s what becomes possible when grief is met in community. The biggest reason to come on retreat Grief does not move in isolation. It needs to be witnessed, held, and felt in the body. Grief is not a problem to solve. It is a profound teacher that reshapes identity, purpose, and relationship to life. When grief is unsupported, it stays in the body. When it is witnessed, felt, and met in community, it becomes a catalyst for transformation. This is the foundation of the work at the Center for Somatic Grieving. The Awakening Through Grief Retreat is a six-day immersive experience in Maui grounded in somatic practice, reflection, and community support. Participants are guided to work with grief as an initiation — honoring what has been lost, meeting what has changed, and learning how to live inside a transformed life. Grief teaches through the body. Acceptance is learned through practice. Community is what allows the work to unfold. April 26 – May 1, 2026 · Maui Registration for the Awakening Through Grief Retreat is closing. Details and application are in the bio.

Grief doesn’t always arrive through tears or collapse. Often it shows up as a fundamental shift in identity — a feeling that the life you’re living no longer fits the person you’ve become. This is what happens when grief hasn’t had space to be felt, witnessed, and integrated. It doesn’t disappear. It lives in the body, shaping how you move, relate, and show up in the world. The Awakening Through Grief Retreat is a six-day immersive experience in Maui, April 26 – May 1, 2026, created to support people living inside this in-between space. Through somatic practice, reflection, and community, participants are guided to work with grief as a teacher — not something to overcome, but something to listen to. Acceptance here is not resignation. It is the practice of meeting reality as it is, without abandoning yourself in the process. This work happens in the body. And it happens in relationship. What does it mean to be a witness? It means staying present without fixing, saving, or turning away. It’s how grief learns it doesn’t have to be carried alone.
