✍️ Upcoming Workshop at the CfC! ✍️ Rooted in fairy tale archetypes, the Heroine’s Journey offers a powerful framework for understanding creativity, identity, and the evolving role of the feminine in our world today. 🎨 Featured Artist: Robin Mullery Robin Mullery infuses tenderness into the images, objects, and installations she creates. Drawing on her background as a therapist, she probes vulnerability and harm, giving shape to what it means to be in relation with one another. Self-taught in visual art with an MFA in Poetry and an MA in Psychology, she intuits her way to form. Susie Peyton’s vision of hosting a Yourh Poetry Collage Workshop at Center for Creativity came to fruition yesterday. San Mateo County Poet Laureate, Antonio Lopez, lead the students students through a series of exercises to get them warmed up to write their own poem using the prompt, “ I am from..” Ca Youth Poet Laureate, Chloe Chou and Emma Peyton also helped guide the 16 high school and middle school students from 13 SMC schools to write their poems. Tomorrow the students will return to create a collage to accompany the poems. The poems/collages will be featured in June in an exhibition at Center for Creativity and read at the Redwood City Library on May 27. @barrioscribe @centerforcreativitysmc @susiepeyton @betsyhalaby @mikjords

🌀 Featured Artist: Alyssa Levitan (@alyssa.levitan ) Painting is a treasure hunt creation. When painting, Alyssa generally has a theme in mind for a series of paintings. She begins by building numerous layers of paint, opening apertures, screening distractions and searching for symbiotic relationships pertaining to my theme. What is revealed are gems of discovery. 🎨 Featured Artist: Michelle Anna Boire Michelle is a San Jose Artist, photographer, and educator surviving the end times on Tamien/Muwekma/Ohlone land. They currently work in photography and mixed media, experimenting recently in fiber arts and soft sculpture. Her work explores the intersection and impact of trauma and memory with a focus on the conscious and sub-conscious. Her work also reflects on the formation of memories through oral history and storytelling. Michelle teaches high school photography and design, and currently runs the San Jose Zine Library. At this Thursday's Make & Take, learn what happens when you use complimentary colors to make earth-tones. Explore color mixing and composition in this mixed media project inspired by Mud clothes from Mali Malian mud cloth, or bogolanfini, is a traditional handmade Malian cotton fabric dating back to the 12th century, created by the Bambara people using fermented mud and natural plant dyes.
