. Yesterday was the last Old Irish class, so here was a wee minding for students - an Old Irish poem written out imitation vellum for them to keep as a memento. They should be able to read them now!

Our final online research seminar of this academic year will be on Friday the 27th of March, 13:00 (for 13:15) - 14:00. It will be given by Dr. Hugh Hagan, on the subject, "A Shipwright Looks at the Archive". Born in Port Glasgow on the Clyde, Dr Hagan retired recently from a senior post in the National Records of Scotland. But he began his working life as a shipwright in the shipyards of The Port.  He came to the University of Edinburgh as a mature student and studied for an MA (Hons) degree in Scottish Ethnology and Scottish History. He then did a PhD on the lives of women in the shipbuilding communities of the West of Scotland between the two World Wars.  In retirement, Dr Hagan is picking of the threads of his earlier activities in oral history work. In this presentation, he will reflect on the place of the urban and industrial material in the School of Scottish Studies Archive collections in the curation of these aspects of Scottish life Joining details here: /celtic-scottish-studies/css-seminar-series-260327
