On Thursday, April 23, Sr. Helen Prejean will be visiting Loyola. Sister Helen Prejean, CSJ is known around the world for her advocacy against the death penalty. Learn about her work and the transformation of her book into a graphic novel. All Loyola University Chicago students, staff, and faculty are welcome! CELTS has two undergraduate awards available, and applications are currently open! Recipients of both awards will be asked to present at the spring Undergraduate Research and Engagement Symposium (April 18, 2026). Applications due March 8!
Applications are now open for the Social Justice Internship (SJI) program through the Center for Engaged Learning, Teaching, and Scholarship (CELTS). This year-long opportunity selects 13 students to complete 250–275 internship hours with leading Chicago nonprofits—Misericordia, Catholic Charities, GirlForward, Forging Opportunities for Refugees in America, and ONE Northside—while enrolling in a dedicated section of EXPL 390 (3 credits). Participants gain hands-on experience working with diverse communities, receive a $4,000 tuition grant, and fulfill Loyola’s Engaged Learning requirement. Applications are due by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, 2026.

The Non-Profit Fair welcomes numerous community non-profit organizations to campus to meet and engage with students (undergraduate and graduate) and share many opportunities for students to get involved. The opportunities include volunteer and service work, internships, research, work-study, and employment. Stop by the Damen Atrium on Wednesday, January 21st, from 11am to 2pm, for the chance to meet with non-profit organization leaders and learn about the many ways to become involved in the community!
