Acting is one of the hardest and one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. It will humble you in many ways. When I randomly decided to give it a try and start taking classes in 2021, I didn’t have any goals or expectations. What I certainly didn’t expect was the community I would gain in the process. Acting is hard. And I don’t mean just the craft, I mean the industry. As actors, we have to understand that we are rejected 98% of the time, many times because of aspects that are out of our control, and not take it personally. Having a community to lean on, who understands how that feels, is such an important part of this. You need people who love this just as much as you do, who can relate to your struggles and also hold you accountable. It’s an important part of what keeps you going through the rejection. I spent the past weekend with some of my community and we learned from other working actors, talent agents, and some of the top casting directors. But I also learned so much from my community and I’m so thankful for the opportunity to do so. I always say it was divine intervention that lead me to the decision to try acting, but I also believe it was divine intervention that lead me to Actor’s Group and to a support system who I can call friends. It’s an honor to stand in their corner, and I’m grateful to have them in mine.
