Killing Softly with Celeste Di Nero – Jeweling the Body and Beyond
@CelesteDiNero is a multidisciplinary artist, originally from Buenos Aires, moves through cities like she moves through people’s stories; with softness and an effortless charm. Shaped by Latin America, refined in Europe, she now finds herself in Tokyo, teaming up with
@_carservice and their shared love for car and drift culture.
On a grey, foggy afternoon, she chose a white Toyota Celica Supra – a calm presence against Tokyo’s slow drizzle, a subtle mirror of her own rhythm and vision. With a carefully scouted location by her, she surprised the sabukaru team at the rooftop of a parking lot in central Tokyo, where we had a chance to chat before heading later to
@sabotentattooparlor , where she was having a guest spot.
Celeste’s tattoo style lies in cursive lettering and delicate charm tattoos. Elegant works that merge fine line technique with her own sensibility and the stories of the people she inks. “The more vulnerable, the better,” she says, valuing the trust that comes with tattooing symbolic placements.
She loves listening to their ideas and feelings in order to create together a unique piece that represents their personality and celebrates their values and ideals. There is no ego in this process. Her art is simply the intermediary between a soul and its intention to express itself – a vector that releases that intention into the world.
She grew up in Italy, studying fine arts and developing her artistic skills. Immersed in the underground hip-hop scene, she discovered graffiti as a form of self-expression and connected with a global community online. She later explored analog photography, documenting the graffiti world and shooting BTS for music videos. In 2018, she turned her passion for tattoos into a profession.
Her creative vision is a complex mix of cultural influences, passion, and a keen eye for symbolic details. She’s looking to send a message that’s not just visual but also deeply emotional, using her art to celebrate the richness and diversity of human experiences, and to connect people.
