Happy Mother’s Day to all the beautiful mamas out there who brought us into this world.
We’ll be singing “Straps and Chains” tonight @helsinkiklub in Zurich , Switzerland which is a song about my Mom who passed when I was a young lad.
Our bassist Frank Heer before the tour suggested we add this song into our 28 song set.
At first I was dubious as we hadn’t performed it in a long time .
Also sometimes you want to let things go on a personal level.
The lyrics are heavy:
I witnessed my Mother getting taken away in a stretcher physically tied down , in front of me and taken to a mental hospital.
A long battle with mental illness she had during our childhood .
And she didn’t make it past 33 but her story lives on in this song and others .
Hug your Mothers!
So grateful for all the Moms out there , women in my life who make this world a better place !
Donna Marie was a great Mom in so many ways.
