It was an honor to be among the selected participants at the SME Connect event hosted by E-Mark at their Innovation Hub, where I represented Skylance Consulting.
The event featured distinguished representatives from key institutions including the Ministry of Trade & Commerce, Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA), Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC), Zambia Association of Manufacturers (ZAM), and the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises, with the Honorable Eng. Elias Mubanga serving as guest of honor.
SMEs and MSMEs constitute some of the largest contributors to our nation's GDP, employment creation, and tax revenue. Therefore, developing a comprehensive understanding of the support mechanisms and specific forms of assistance needed to foster their growth is paramount to our economic development.
A highlight of the program was E-Mark founder Immanuel Mwanza sharing the inspiring journey of the Innovation Hub's creation. His narrative illuminated the challenges they encountered and their transformative decision to shift focus from seeking external solutions to harnessing internal resources and capabilities to overcome obstacles.
This approach resonates deeply with the broader SME landscape in Zambia. By tapping into their creativity and adaptability, SMEs can develop innovative solutions tailored to their specific contexts. This self-reliance not only builds resilience but also creates a foundation for authentic growth that reflects the true entrepreneurial spirit that drives our economy forward.
