There's a particular kind of designer who refuses to be categorized. Cedric Mitchell is one of them.
The Los Angeles-based artist has spent years building a design language he calls Modern Funk, a style rooted in 90s hip-hop, postmodern architecture and retro pop culture. Now, selected works from his practice are available to own through #JOOPITERMarketplace
Cedric Mitchell: Modern Funk is live now.
Chasing the fire is deeper than the work.
It’s the late nights.
The risk.
The moments where you don’t know if it’s going to work out, but you stay in it anyway.
For me, that fire started in Tulsa and carried me to Los Angeles.
Now it lives in every piece I make.
In the pauses, in the reflection,
in choosing to build from a new place instead of repeating the old one.
That’s where the real shift happens.
Honored to share that journey with @Lincoln .

We are delighted to share this window into the Learning Fire Youth Program at Terminal City Glass Co-op — a program that gives students the unique opportunity to learn and explore the art of glass while earning high school credit.
Vancouver School Board alternative schools serve teens who often face challenges in traditional school settings due to complex life and family circumstances.
In 2026, more than 50 students came through our studio to blow glass, make beads, and fuse glass, offering young people the opportunity to explore creativity, build confidence, and express themselves in new ways.
We are incredibly hopeful for the future of this program and invite you to support its continued growth.
A huge thank you to Cedric Mitchell for highlighting the program, Bop Productions for capturing it so beautifully, Hope Forstenzer for the vision behind it, and Holly Cruise for helping bring it all together.
You can make a donation through the link in our bio. Donations made within Canada are eligible for a tax receipt.
Thank you for supporting accessible arts education.

ZESTREL
Sorry..no deep ass meaning fr.
just felt like citrus + surreal collided.
this that color therapy.
that dopamine object.
that “I don’t need a reason to make this” type shit
posted again cause fuck the algorithm.
I’m building a language, not chasing likes.
if you get it, you get it.

VERDANT ORACLE
Corning base. Minnesota top.
rolled it up coast to coast and stacked it.
sound like some @spitta_andretti shit… and yeah, it kinda is. Verde Terrace type energy.
this whole Joopiter run powered by sativa and tunnel vision.
been tapped into Ben Moore’s On Center video…
the way he moves, the control, the patience in the form.
that discipline been sitting with me.
no deep meaning. just form, color, and how it hit in the moment.
high craft. low pressure.
PRIMARY PIVOT
This one feels like a shift for me
thinking smaller, tighter, more accessible
but still hitting with the same presence.
Functional too. It’s a vase.
Terrick pulled up to Supervsn, saw it in person…
didn’t even hesitate. Straight to the collection.
New direction…
Mini sculptures. Same energy. Lower entry.
Y’all rocking with it?
HALO STUDY
36” inches Tall
Made @pilchuckglassschool
stole a little. flipped a lot.
came up watching @dante_marioni … running those old Dick + Dante tapes back like scripture.
learned restraint, rhythm, control.
then @joecariati …
clean lines. mid-century calm. that T-top language engraved in my brain over the years.
first class: @perpetualpractice_jc . that stuck.
and somewhere in the mix… Lonnie Johnson energy.
play. invention.turned into joy.
this piece is the conversation.
what happens when those worlds meet
and I’m at the center calling plays
not copying. not cloning.
just building on the shoulders I studied.
