🇺🇸 🇱🇧 Selling for 150$ are the only remaining " ‘82-‘83 USMC Lebanon’s War Deployment Commemorative Tankard " .
Although military tankards have been recorded to date well before the 16th century and still offered till today as a gesture of thanks, accomplishments, deployment remembrance or as a trophy. They have been rarely made in a limited quantity like in this case, where they were meant to be offered to the U.S. Marines serving part of the Multinational Force in Lebanon, a military peacekeeping mission during the Lebanese Civil War. However these tankards never made it to the Marines who were meant to receive them as they were martyred in the Beirut Barracks Bombings on the 23rd of October 1983. The tragic bombing that claimed the lives of 241 U.S. military personnel, of whom 220 were Marines. The attack followed the U.S. embassy bombing on the 18th of April 1983. Nowadays challenge coins or patches have replaced tankards and other costly deployment memorabilia. Made of copper and part of a multiple commemorative souvenir pack, it’s nice to note that the tankards bare some imperfections as they were handmade and painted in Lebanon as the U.S. usually likes to produce its deployment souvenirs locally to encourage the country’s workforce.

Officially the “People’s Republic of Albania” from 1946 until 1976 and member of the Warsaw Pact, it was the one-party communist state ruling Albania from 1946 to 1991. “Himni i Flamurit” for “Hymn to the Flag” in Albanian has been the national anthem of Albania since 1912 till the present day starting with “Around our flag we stand united” as the first sentence of the national anthem showing their allegiance and loyalty to their sacred flag.

🇺🇸 Selling for 20$ are the infamous USGI WWII “M-38 Leggings Canvas Dismounted” better known as “U.S. WWII Gaiters”. Replacing WWI “Puttees” wool wraps and canvas gaiters but although not very popular during that era, they entered the U.S. army under “Leggings” in 1938 being issued and to be worn along the ankle-high boot. However, they were no longer needed after being replaced by the “M-43 Combat Boot” which came with a high ankle upgrade. Gaiters did their duty by providing ankle support in rough terrain and protection against spikes, water, mud, insect & reptiles and debris from getting in the shoe.
The U.S. M-38 Gaiters saw action during WW2 and were also given to partner armies as military aid.
This particular pair was given to a Lebanese Forces combatant (Christian Militia) by U.S. forces in Lebanon during the Lebanese Civil War.
