✨Public Art Program Project Highlight✨ This week we are featuring a Community/Artist Initiated public art installation on City property titled ā€œOn Indigenous Land; The Story of Rinihmu Pulte’Irekneā€ (2024) by artist Cece Carpio with Kahalla, created in collaboration with Sogorea Te’ Land Trust and the youth of Mitiini Numma. This four panel mural installed on the exterior of the restroom building at the Joaquin Miller Park Cascade (Council District 4) moves through the passage of time - sunrise, day, sunset, and night - to tell the visual story of Rinihmu Pulte’Irekne, 3.8 acres of land in the Oakland Hills returned to Indigenous stewardship. Learn more at @sogoreatelandtrust Location: The mural is on the upper restroom building at 3300 Joaquin Miller Rd. Street parking is available on Joaquin Miller Road. From there, walk up the stairs or follow the gentle incline westward along the path to reach the building. Photo credit: Cece Carpio Video footage and edit: Jenny Chu & InĆ©s Ixierda
