Trying out three new matcha drinks from @swirl.ph — one of the first homegrown gelato spots in Banilad, Cebu. Their Byakuren Matcha is sourced directly from Uji, Kyoto-Japan, giving it an authentic, high-quality taste at an affordable price. Nothing beats that!
Here’s what we got:
Real Good Matcha — inspired by their popular burrata gelato. Super silky with a slight savory taste and a touch of sea salt that balances everything out perfectly.
Banana Bread Matcha — probably my favorite. The in-house banana cold foam has this naturally caramelized sweetness that really tastes like warm banana bread. Their house-made banana syrup made from perfectly ripened bananas gives it those warm, toasty, almost butterscotch-like notes.
Kinako Earl Grey Matcha — the matcha and earl grey syrup work so well together. Then the roasted soybean cold foam adds this nutty, umami-like flavor in every sip. The earl grey syrup also brings a light citrusy and floral sweetness that makes it super smooth to drink.
They also offer a variety of gelato flavors, including their new seasonal picks: Turon, Mango Speculoos, Earl Grey Tea, and Ube Loco. We personally went for the Turon (caramelized banana + langka) and their famous Cookie Monster, and it was soooo good. Definitely coming back to try the other flavors soon.
