Sheryl Crow, winner of multiple Grammy Awards, and the composer and artist behind worldwide hits “All She Wants To Do”, “If It Makes You Happy,” “Redemption Day,” “Every Day Is A Winding Road,” “Soak Up The Sun” “Favorite Mistake,” “Strong Enough,” and others, took time to share wisdom from her journey to a room full of Music Industry Studies and Commercial Music majors at Lipscomb earlier this month. The event was organized, and hosted, by MIS major Abby Whitman, who was mentored by Sheryl through a songwriting program in high school, and overseen by Director of Music Industry Studies, John J. Thompson as part of the school’s Music City Colloquies program, also dubbed “Wisdom From The Well.”

There's something rare about getting to watch artistic legacy pass from one generation to the next — and that's exactly what this exhibit is about.
Michael Shane Neal ('91) has spent his career painting presidents, senators, and cultural icons. His daughter Mattie Ree has trained around the world and is already building a career of her own. Together, their work tells a story about family, craft, and what it means to carry something forward.
"On The Same Page" opens Tuesday, March 24 with a free gallery talk from 5–6:30 pm in the Hutcheson Gallery at Beaman Library. Free and open to the public through April 19.
