Column-wheel chronographs follow a more traditional route. A more complex architecture with additional components and a higher level of finishing and adjustment. At its core, a rotating column controls the sequencing of start, stop, and reset functions through a precise mechanical interaction of levers and wheels.
The result is not a different outcome, but a different experience. Subtle, refined, and mechanically deliberate in feel.
Both the Lebois Heritage Chronograph and the Airain Type 20 are powered by Swiss-made, hand-wound column-wheel chronograph movements. A choice rooted less in convenience and more in mechanical heritage and classical chronograph construction.

Most enamel dials don't survive the first firing.
Eight stages. Copper is shaped, enamel powder ground by hand, applied in layers, and fired into glass at 800°C. Each color is printed with precision onto the curved surface, then fused permanently into the enamel.
Misalignment by a fraction means rejection. Print tension, shape, consistency, all must be flawless.

The Heritage Atelier Chronograph 324.552 ‘Bleu sur Blanc’. A crisp dialogue of blue on warm white Grand Feu enamel.
Three-piece dial construction. Each layer fired above 800°C. The enamel surface shifts with light, creating a living texture that no photograph fully captures.
Deep blue registers against luminous handcrafted enamel. A vintage-inspired decimal scale divides each minute into 100 units, enabling readings to the hundredth of a minute. No tachymeter. No telemeter. Just precise, functional timing rooted in mid-century instrument design.

Blue is not merely a colour here. It is definition. Warm off-white Grand Feu enamel meets deep blue registers in a study of contrast that serves clarity, not decoration. Each dial is fired at 800°C, layer by layer, until the surface achieves the glass-like permanence enamel is known for, executed in a three-piece construction with a subtly domed enamel main surface.
Where convention dictates a tachymeter, we’ve chosen a decimal scale. 100 units per minute, for readings to the hundredth of a minute. Function refined to its essence.

Not a simple replica, but a search for balance and character. Designer Matthieu Allègre reimagined those numerals… faithful to their origin, yet unmistakably Lebois & Co.
