Wide open skies keep calling me back. I’ve been really digging more minimalist work, lately. While I share less on here, I still try to shoot all I can and consume other art just as much. This year was the most activity filled we have been in recent years; We spent time in several different states and national parks, slept in weird small town hotels and tents in the woods with the little one. Despite that travel, I put my camera down more often, this year. I focused in, putting extra focus into work, concerts with my wife and trips with the family. What I did capture is sacred to me, and will remain so. I had successes and failures alike, learned lessons and missed others. I have no resolutions for the new year, but I do intend to be more.. intentional. With my work, my camera, my family and myself. I’ve picked up some small hobbies that will aid in that intentional living, and plan to steer further from social media so my family and those around me experience a more physically present version of myself. To those that supported the images I did share this year, thank you for the love. As a non-engaging person, the attention to my art didn’t go unnoticed, but wasn’t outwardly expressed with gratitude. I used to talk a lot when I’d share my work; I’d leave some overextended story or explanation, hoping that someone would resonate with some part of it, and it would stick with them. When I stopped doing that, my engagement didn’t change, and the work stayed the same. However, I began to slowly lose interest in sharing work all together. A big part of our (my) creation stems from an inner reflection and a comfort in expressing a part of ourselves we may not be comfortable vocalizing, through the work. I miss the connection, and the reflection that came with it, so here’s to that. These few photos all bring me back to a moment of hesitance in shooting film while traveling with others, but excitement for where we were; I didn’t want to be in the way, or hassle stopping the car, so I waited for brief moments to shoot before putting the camera back down. Maybe that lack of confidence had an effect on the compositions, but I can vividly remember the sounds and the feeling in each frame.
