When the halls go quiet and students head out for summer break, something shifts. For educators and administrators, this is more than downtime. It’s the window to reset, rethink, and get ahead before the next school year begins 🌞
While it might feel early to think about furniture in May or June, this is actually the most important time to act. The decisions made over the summer shape how classrooms function in the fall 🏫

The drawings always look perfect at the start.
Desks line up neatly. Chairs are spaced evenly. Meeting rooms are clearly labeled, and collaboration areas sit exactly where they should. Every square foot has a purpose on paper.
But real life is full of surprises, and that’s where good design shines 🤩

The school day begins quietly. A few students arrive early, placing backpacks beside their desks while the classroom slowly fills with conversation. At first glance, it looks like a typical classroom. But within minutes, the room begins to shift 👩🏻🏫

For the past few years, there have been a lot of conversations about the future of the workplace. Headlines often ask whether the office is “dead” as remote and hybrid work models continue to evolve. The reality is much simpler. The workplace is not disappearing. It is changing 👇🏻

Located in Grande Prairie’s O’Brien Lake subdivision, École Catholique Louis Riel is a French immersion pre-K to Grade 8 school designed to support modern learning. The building features bright, open spaces, including a two-storey learning commons and flexible areas that encourage collaboration and creativity 🤩
We worked closely with the school’s leadership team to create dynamic, adaptable learning environments. Breakout commons between classrooms, along with flexible seating and sensory-friendly elements, give students and teachers the freedom to use spaces in ways that work best for them 🙌🏻

For years, many spaces were designed with a one-size-fits-all mindset. A classroom had rows of identical desks. An office had fixed cubicles. A meeting room had one large table and chairs that rarely moved. While this approach was simple, it didn’t always reflect how people actually work, learn, or collaborate ❌
Today, that mindset is shifting. Organizations are recognizing that spaces need to adapt just as quickly as the people who use them. Adaptable furniture is becoming an important part of creating environments that are flexible, practical, and ready for change ✔️
