And that’s a wrap on another semester—and the 2025–2026 school year. This year, CCU Visual Arts students continued to show why the arts and art history matter: building visual literacy, creative problem solving, cultural awareness, and critical thinking through meaningful, human-centered work. From the studio to design and art history classrooms, our students are learning to create, analyze, and connect ideas in ways that shape culture and community every day. Here’s to another year of creativity, curiosity, and growth. 🎨📚 #CCU #VisualArts #CreativeThinking #VisualLiteracy #ArtsMatter

This past Thursday Lauren Pomeroy presented her thesis research at the CCU Honors Symposium! Her project explores curatorial studies within the Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts, focusing on improving access to and organization of the university’s Art Collection. As part of her research, she bridged her Studio Art and Art History studies to develop systems for digitizing inventories, implementing collections management practices, and cataloging data. This work resulted in the creation of a fully functional digital database using PastPerfect museum software. The project highlights both her process and findings, while emphasizing the importance of a structured collections management system at CCU. #CCU #HonorsSymposium #ArtHistory #VisualArts #CuratorialStudies StudentResearch

A special shoutout to the recipients of the Apple Award for the Visual Arts Professor of the Year (Miranda Elston) and the Award for Distinguished Scholarship or Creative Endeavors (Dave Johnson)! Together, they build creative, curious, and analytical thinkers who know how to see, and think, more deeply. Why the Visual Arts Matter.
