We celebrate the extraordinary achievements of the Class of 2026 at the Community College of Rhode Island. To every graduate: congratulations. Your hard work, resilience, and determination have brought you to this moment, and we could not be prouder of all you have accomplished.
This year’s commencement was made even more meaningful as CCRI awarded its first two honorary degrees—recognizing lives and legacies that reflect the very best of service, storytelling, and community.
We proudly honored the late @therealfrankcaprio , whose compassion, humanity, and lifelong commitment to public service touched countless lives and reminded us all of the power of fairness and kindness.
We were also honored to recognize Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author @danbarry1958 , whose storytelling has illuminated the dignity, struggles, and triumphs found in everyday lives—including right here in Rhode Island.
To our graduates: as you move forward, may you carry with you the same spirit of perseverance, purpose, and service exemplified by this year’s honorary degree recipients. The future is brighter because of you.

On Friday evening, during National Nurses Week, I had the profound honor of celebrating CCRI’s newest nursing graduates at our Pinning Ceremony. As a CCRI nursing alumna whose own journey began here nearly five decades ago, this ceremony is always deeply personal to me. Our graduates are entering a profession where they will stand beside people during some of life’s most joyful, difficult, and vulnerable moments. Rhode Island is gaining an exceptional group of nurses, and I know they will make a difference in countless lives.
Congratulations, Class of 2026! Welcome to one of the most trusted and meaningful professions in the world. 💚🩺
This week, we proudly celebrate the compassion, strength, and dedication of nurses everywhere - especially our incredible CCRI nursing students, @ccrialumni , and faculty!
Thank you for being the heart of healthcare. 💚 🩺
