Community Counseling & Mediation (CCM) and our For Youth Peer Support Alliance (FYPS) are proud to share that on August 15, 2025, FYPS, CCM, and a number of subcontractors and partner organizations will host a Back-to-School Drive for the children and families in Brooklyn!
This Back-to-School Drive is an important opportunity to bring our community together, raise awareness about vital local resources, and ensure that our families are prepared for a successful school year. Our central aim is to provide essential school supplies for children, including book bags, notebooks, water bottles, socks, and pens/pencils, and also provide necessary resources and connect families with services such as Peer Advocate services, Therapist services, Educational information, Food Bank services, etc., with an overall goal to strengthen community bonds in a safe and supportive environment. Good Shepherd Services is generously providing the venue, DJ and food for all vendors and attendees. We anticipate 200+ children and their families to be in attendance for this event.
If you have any questions, are interested in attending the Back-to-School Drive, or if you are from an organization who would like to donate to our cause, please contact the FYPS Alliance Coordinator, Nerrissa Jenkins-Sherrills by email at: [email protected].

Community Counseling & Mediation (CCM) is proud to announce that we were awarded $1,000,000 in capital funding by Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso as part of the FY 2025–2026 City Budget! This allocation will support a full renovation of our Classon/Crown Heights Clinic at 810 Classon Avenue, significantly enhancing our ability to provide trauma-informed and culturally responsive mental health services to Brooklyn residents. This is a huge win for mental health services in Crown Heights, and we extend our sincerest gratitude to Brooklyn Borough President Reynoso, his office, and all our CCM staff and community members. Watch Douglas Brooks, CCM’s President and CEO, give an endorsement speech at New York City Hall for the Strengthening Medicaid for Serious Mental Illness Act, reintroduced by @repdangoldman and supported by @ebottcher and @lynn4nyc 🗽
CCM is proud to share that Douglas C. Brooks, CCM’s President and CEO, was invited by Congressman Dan Goldman @repdangoldman to endorse his ‘Strengthening Medicaid for Serious Mental Illness Act’ because of Mr. Brooks’ expertise and leadership in New York City’s behavioral health world. He attended the press conference on the steps of New York City Hall alongside the Congressman, Council Members Erik Bottcher @ebottcher and Lynn Shulman @lynn4nyc , and other community leaders to reintroduce the legislation.
Mr. Brooks was honored to advocate for CCM’s clients and NYC’s most vulnerable and to join esteemed elected officials and other community leaders in highlighting important legislation. Thank you Congressman Goldman for re-introducing this bill and for inviting CCM to participate in the endorsement. CCM is proud to support this bill and any other legislation that will bring about positive change for New York City’s underserved populations. And as always, we will continue to diligently provide care for our communities.
