St Joseph’s Primary School - New Admin Building. ⁣ ⁣ The existing admin building linking the hall and classrooms was demolished. ⁣ This housed the MSB supplying the whole school and ELC, all electrical and communications infrastructure had to be temporary relocated to keep the school up and running.

Starting with a Master Plan, briefing, and feasibility study including concept design, this project included a review of facilities within the whole college plus surrounding area to establish the size and required functions to be included in the new centre at St Mary MacKillop college in Tuggeranong. After this process the defined performing arts centre includes a multipurpose flat floor black box auditorium for drama, music and dance for up to 400 people. This is supported by other learning spaces such as a music classroom with practice rooms, recording facilities, specialist instrument storage area, flexible drama studio and green room, change rooms, dance studio, staff room, GPLA classroom, and large foyer for gathering and activities with breakout areas and servery. The whole building serves as a multipurpose creative arts hub. Photography @eddisonphotographics

Sunday sketches. These are initial planning sketches for the Eating Disorders building. The Residential Treatment Facility is an all-electric building with a 35 kW PV solar system and EV car charging facilities. It is a highly insulated and sealed building with high levels of natural light and natural ventilation through operable windows and highlights. It can run in full AC mode or mixed mode and the separated wings can switch off when empty. Materials have been sourced to be either reclaimed, have high recycled content, or have low embodied carbon, whilst also providing health and wellness benefits.

Sunday sketches. These sketches are from Rural houses we completed for local rangers in 2006 as replacement after the bushfires. These were all electric, high insulation, composite double glazed windows, solar passive, solar heating and hot water, rainwater reuse, independent sewer treatment, one house with mini hydro and off grid. Listed in 100 Canberra houses.

It’s appropriate that our first target is to connect. We have often thought that the work we do is enough to tell a story, but we have to tell the story. This has to be through talks, awards, meeting on committees, engagement, training, education, and leadership. Time again to talk.
