Defend the Bay! We stand with the people of the Bay Area in rejecting the Trump Administration’s threats of deploying federal agents to terrorize and kidnap our neighbors. Regardless of whether tech billionaires and Trump call off their announced “invasion” of San Francisco and the Bay Area, immigrant communities are facing ICE enforcement on a daily basis, unjust immigration detention, and deportation. This kind of spectacle sends a clear message: stay silent, stay afraid. We reject that message, and we want to invite you to share information and resources to be prepared, get involved and defend our communities. For links to the resources in this post go to /defend-the-bay To get involved and learn about upcoming actions follow @bayresistance #DefendTheBay #AbolishICE #WeKeepUsSafe

Dear CCIJ Community, We want to share some exciting news that is only possible because of you! CCIJ was formed in the wake of the 2016 presidential election when two immigrant removal defense collaboratives joined efforts to provide better legal assistance to the detained immigrant community in Northern and Central California. From its origins until late 2021, CCIJ was a fiscally-sponsored project. During this time, we incorporated rapid response, detained representation, legal screenings, and data strategy to our work. However, the changing political landscape and continued lack of improvements to our current immigration system made us realize that traditional ideas of lawyering and non-profit work are not enough to realize the systemic change we want to see. With this in mind, CCIJ embarked on a new journey to reimagine our work, mission, vision, and purpose and to become an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. It’s a new day at CCIJ and we want to share it with you! ☀️

Red card for GEO Group & CoreCivic! Goal for people over profit! Private prison corporations like GEO Group, CoreCivic and MTC make millions in taxpayer dollars off caging our neighbors kidnapped by ICE. We’re blowing the whistle on their greed and abuse! Meanwhile, everyday community members put people over profit by building mutual aid initiatives to uplift and support each other. Goooooooallll! If you want to score goals for liberation, join us on Saturday, June 13, at our 4th annual CCIJust Goals Soccer Tournament for Liberation! /ccijustgoals 🗓️ Saturday, June 13 | 8am-3pm 📍 Negoesco Stadium at USF - 222 Stanyan St, San Francisco, CA 94117 🟣 This is a gender inclusive tournament, ages 18 and up. Games will be 5 v 5. 8-12 players per team. Each team should have 2 players who do not identify as men playing at all times.

The Muppet Script returns to bring you MUPPET TREASURE SCRIPTLAND! When most people think of the Muppets, they think of the colorful characters made out of fleece and foam. But as with every movie, it all starts on the written page. Before returning to the big screen, the Muppets team returned to the writers’ room. Another literary classic was turned on its head when Muppets scribe JERRY JUHL skewered ROBERT LOUIS STEVENSON’S tale of nautical adventure, joined this time by KIRK THATCHER and JAMES V. HART, and directed once again by JIM HENSON’S son, BRIAN HENSON. This performance will be a treasure worth its weight in gold! This show will be raising funds for CALIFORNIA COLLABORATIVE FOR IMMIGRANT JUSTICE. The CCIJ utilizes coordination, advocacy, and legal services to fight for the liberation of immigrants in detention in California, envisioning a world where no one is subject to incarceration (physical or electronic) or family separation. They move beyond traditional legal services and support innovative approaches to liberation and empowerment of detained immigrants and their communities.
